Team Singapore Delivers Strong Showing in Team Events on Day 1 of SEA Youth Table Tennis Championships 2026

Singapore, 14 April 2026 – Team Singapore kicked off their campaign in commanding fashion at the SEA Youth Table Tennis Championships 2026, delivering a series of impressive performances across both the Under-15 (U15) and Under-19 (U19) team events on the opening day of competition.

Competing at the ActiveSG Pasir Ris Sports Hall, Singapore’s young paddlers rose to the occasion on home ground, in front of family and friends, producing assured victories and spirited displays against some of the region’s strongest opponents.

In the U19 team events, both the boys’ and girls’ teams demonstrated composure and tactical sharpness to secure top positions in their respective groups and advance to the semifinals.

The U19 boys’ team, comprising Ellsworth Le, Loy Xing Yao, Nicholas Tan and Benaiah Seah, showcased impressive depth and consistency throughout the day. They recorded convincing wins over Lao PDR (3-0), Indonesia (3-1) and the Philippines (3-0) to top their group in dominant fashion.

Similarly, the U19 girls’ team, anchored by national standouts Loy Ming Ying and Chloe Lai, alongside rising talents Eudora Lee and Janelle Chiang, delivered a flawless campaign. The team swept past Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia, all by identical 3-0 scorelines, displaying both composure and resilience to secure their place in the semifinals.

The U15 teams also turned in commendable performances, underlining Singapore’s strength and depth in youth development.

The U15 boys’ team of Zane Ong, Isaiah Loh, Damien Li and Neo Cheng Ming showed strong character after a 3-1 opening loss to Malaysia. The team responded emphatically, defeating Brunei (3-0) before edging Vietnam 3-2 in a decisive, winner-takes-all encounter to finish runners-up in their group and book a spot in the semifinals.

Likewise, the U15 girls’ team of Chevelle See, Ng Jing Xuan, Sonia Zainudeen and Arissa Cheng demonstrated grit and determination throughout their campaign. After opening with a convincing 3-0 win over Indonesia, they fell 3-1 to Malaysia, setting up a crucial final group match against Vietnam. Rising to the occasion, the team delivered a composed 3-1 victory to secure their progression to the knockout stages.
