Special Privileges to National Paddlers

The STTA is committed to getting the best for our national paddlers and aims to provide educational pathways and post-career opportunities to our athletes.

Educational Opportunities

A network of educational partners to provide educational opportunities to our Singapore National Team paddlers.

  • 1.1 Scholarship/ Preferential Admission to Beijing Sport University (BSU)
  • 1.2 Preferential Admission to Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
  • 1.3 Scholarship to University of Liverpool (UoL)
  • 1.4 Scholarship to Singapore University of Social Sciences (formerly known as the SIM University (UNISIM)
  • 1.5 Meinhardt-STTA Scholarship


Customised Educational Curriculum

The STTA works closely with Singapore Sports School and their educational partners to provide our national paddlers with a complementing educational track while they play are playing and competing internationally.

STTA Youth Endowment Fund

The STTA Youth Endowment fund will create many opportunities for our Singapore born athletes beyond their sporting careers.

The fund can be drawn to be used for tertiary education or any post-career opportunities. The yearly amount of $5,000 will continue to be deposited into their endowment fund during their stint in the national team. The Singapore born athletes have to serve in the National Team for a minimum of 3 years to receive the endowment fund.

Former national players, Isabelle Li and Pang Xuejie have received $55,000 and $31,657.50 respectively upon their retirement.

STTA-DR TAHIR & Associates Trust Fund

The STTA desires to do everything possible to encourage our Singapore born national paddlers to become the best and it is our wish to produce more home-grown Olympians.

The “STTA – Dr Tahir & Associates Future Ready Trust Fund” aims: – to motivate our Singapore born national paddlers to scale greater heights and ultimately representing Singapore at the Olympics. – to finance our Singapore born national paddlers to a University education (local/foreign) or further learning opportunities after their stint with STTA so long as they have represented Singapore at the Olympics 2016 and/or beyond. – to reward our Singapore born national paddlers for their continued commitment and dedication.

The driving force behind the trust fund is to encourage our Singapore born paddlers to aim high.

Salary/ Training Allowance

The STTA provides salary with CPF for our national paddlers playing full time. For those national paddlers who have graduated from secondary school or Singapore Sports School and chose to continue with their studies, the STTA supplements them with a training allowance.

Sports Science and Medicine Support

The STTA works closely with Singapore Sports Institute in helping our athletes optimize their performance through direct application of leading-edge science, performance testing and monitoring, applied research and education.
