Southeast Asia’s Rising Table Tennis Stars Set for Singapore Showdown

For the first time since 2017, Southeast Asia’s brightest young table tennis talents will descend on Singapore from 14 to 19 April 2026 for the SEA Youth Table Tennis Championships 2026 Singapore.

Organised by the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) and supported by Sport Singapore, the Championships are sanctioned by the Southeast Asian Table Tennis Association (SEATTA), Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU), and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

The six-day competition, taking place at the ActiveSG Pasir Ris Sports Hall, will feature top youth paddlers from across the region competing in 13 events in singles, doubles, and team across both the U15 and U19 age groups, reaffirming its status as a key platform for developing future stars of the sport. The U19 event also serves as a qualifier for the Asian Youth Table tennis Championships which will be held in Muscat, Oman in June 2026.

“We are delighted to bring the SEA Youth Championships back to Singapore for the first time since 2017,” said Mr Soon Min Sin, PBM, Chairman of the SEA Youth 2026 Organising Committee. “This event is a cornerstone for youth development in the region, and we are committed to delivering a memorable and high-quality competition for all participants.”

The Championships have long served as a springboard for elite athletes, with past participants progressing to the highest levels of international table tennis, including the Olympic Games. Notable examples include Izaac Quek and Zhou Jingyi, who have both risen through the youth ranks to represent Singapore on the global stage.

Competing on home ground, Team Singapore will look to build on its impressive performances in recent editions—securing 3 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals in 2025 in Indonesia, and 4 gold, 2 silver, and 7 bronze medals in 2024 in Malaysia.

“With the support of our home crowd, our players will be motivated to rise to the occasion and deliver their best performances,” said Ms Poh Li San, President of the Singapore Table Tennis Association. “This Championships is not just about competition—it is about creating opportunities, building friendships, and inspiring the next generation of table tennis players.”

She added, “We encourage fans, schools, and the wider community to come down and be part of this exciting event. Home support can make a real difference for our athletes.”

Singapore’s challenge will be led by a strong contingent of youth talents across categories.

In the U19 category, national paddlers Ellsworth Le, Loy Ming Ying—a two-time SEA Youth U15 Girls Champion—and Chloe Lai headline the squad, supported by a stellar cast of rising stars – Nicholas Tan, Loy Xing Yao, Eudora Lee and Chong Zi Sian, all who are no strangers to success in this competition.

The U15 category also features exciting up and coming prospects, including Neo Cheng Ming, the 2024 STTA Hopes Player of the Year, alongside established WTT Youth Series performers Zane Ong and Isaiah Loh in the boys’ division.

In the girls’ division, multiple time WTT Youth Series medallist Chevelle See, Sonia Zainudeen, and Gu Xintian, who clinched bronze at the 2025 ITTF Asia Hopes Week & Challenge are among the key players to watch.

The regional field will be equally competitive, with standout names including Thailand’s World Youth U19 mixed doubles champions Thitaphat Preechayan and Kulapassr Vijitviriyagul, Malaysia’s Lai Brothers – Yong Han and Yong Ren, along with teammates Gan Ai Lis and Mohd Dania, and Indonesia’s rising star Muhammad Naufal Junindra.

Fans can catch the action live, with matches on Tables 1 and 2 streamed via the Facebook page of the Singapore Table Tennis Association.
