The Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) celebrated a year of exceptional achievements and inspiring performances at its Annual Awards Night, held at the Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium and graced by Guest of Honour Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry.
The event brought together athletes, coaches, officials and members of the table tennis fraternity to honour the achievements and contributions that have shaped Singapore table tennis over the past year.
The highlight of the evening saw national paddler Izaac Quek crowned the STTA Star Player of the Year for an unprecedented third consecutive year. His sustained excellence on the international stage continues to set the benchmark for Singapore table tennis. In 2025, Quek delivered a remarkable season, winning three gold medals at the 2025 SEA Games (Men’s Singles, Doubles, and Team) — becoming the first Singaporean to successfully win back-to-back trebles in consecutive Games. He also achieved a Top 4 finish in the Men’s Doubles with Koen Pang at the WTT Sweden Smash and clinched a silver medal in the same event at WTT Star Contender Muscat.
Rising star Loy Ming Ying was named Youth Player of the Year, in recognition of her strong performances across major competitions. She secured a silver medal in the Women’s Team event and a bronze in Women’s Doubles with Ser Lin Qian at the 2025 SEA Games, alongside a bronze medal with the Women’s Team at the Asian Team Championships. At the youth level, she continued to impress with a bronze medal in the U15 Girls’ Team event at the Asian Youth Championships and back-to-back titles in the U17 and U19 Singles at the WTT Youth Contender Cappadocia 2025.
In the junior category, Gu Xin Tian was awarded Hopes Player of the Year following her strong showing on the international stage, where she clinched a bronze medal at the 2025 SEA Hopes & Challenge Week and finished 6th at the 2025 ITTF World Hopes Week & Challenge—further reinforcing the strength of Singapore’s development pipeline.
The Coach of the Year 2025 accolade was awarded to Jing Junhong, Head Coach of the Women’s National Team, for her outstanding leadership. Under her guidance, the women’s team secured 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals at the 2025 SEA Games, and achieved a joint-bronze finish at the Asian Team Championships, earning qualification for the 2026 Asian Games.
Special Awards were presented to Tan Zhao Yun and Koen Pang for in recognition of their consistency, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Zhao Yun made history as the first Singaporean to secure a Top 4 finish at a WTT Feeder event, underlining her ability to compete at the highest level. At the Asian Team Championships, she delivered when it mattered most—claiming two decisive victories against India in the quarter-finals to propel Singapore into the semi-finals and secure a bronze medal. Her professionalism and competitive spirit have firmly established her as a cornerstone of the national team.
Koen demonstrated exceptional grit and determination at the SEA Games 2025, overcoming injury and illness to deliver a remarkable performance. He captured three gold medals in the Men’s Team, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles events, becoming the first Singaporean male player since 2007 to achieve the rare ‘Doubles Double’. His resilience and championship mindset exemplify the very best of Singapore table tennis.
At the grassroots level, the Clementi Zone Training Centre, led by Head Coach Dong Shifei and Assistant Coach Lu Pei, was recognised as the Outstanding Zone Training Centre of the Year for its dedication to nurturing young talent and achieving consistent results in local competitions.
“Tonight, we celebrate not just achievements, but the hard work, discipline, and passion that define our athletes and coaches. These awardees embody the spirit of excellence that continues to drive Singapore table tennis forward’, said Ms Poh Li San, STTA President as she commended the award recipients and the broader table tennis community.
