Ms Poh Li San has been re-elected unopposed as President of the Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA), securing another term at the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today at the Toa Payoh Central Community Club.

Ms Poh, who was first elected STTA President in 2022, will continue to lead the Association as it builds on the progress made in recent years and looks ahead to the continued development of table tennis in Singapore.

The AGM also saw the election of a 12-member Management Committee, reduced from 14 members in accordance with STTA’s latest Constitution. The Management Committee will comprise 13 members in total, with the STTA Athlete’s Commission Chairperson to join the Committee following the Commission’s election on 31 August 2026.

Joining the Management Committee is former national paddler and Youth Olympic Games silver medallist Isabelle Li, who made history at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010. A successful junior and senior international player, Isabelle enjoyed a distinguished competitive career before retiring from the sport. Her experience as a former national athlete will bring valuable insight and perspective to the Management Committee as STTA continues to develop the sport at all levels.

Ms Poh said, “I am grateful for the support from members and to have the privilege to continue my service at STTA as President. I would like to thank the STTA Management Committee, our coaches, athletes, staff, partners and supporters for their dedication and contributions to Singapore table tennis.

“I am also pleased to welcome the new Management Committee, including Isabelle Li, who brings with her valuable experience as a former national athlete and Youth Olympian. Having former athletes contribute to the leadership of our Association is important as we continue to strengthen the pathway for our young players and national teams.”

Ms Poh’s re-election comes at a period of encouraging performances by Singapore’s national teams, with both the men’s and women’s squads continuing to make their mark at regional and international competitions.

At the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, Singapore’s women’s team claimed the silver medal while Singapore’s men’s team successfully defended its team gold after a dramatic 3-2 victory over Vietnam. Izaac Quek was instrumental in the victory and subsequently defended his men’s singles title, completing a second consecutive SEA Games clean sweep of the men’s team, men’s doubles and men’s singles titles. Singapore also won gold in the mixed doubles, with Koen Pang and Zeng Jian reclaiming the title, while Pang and Quek retained their men’s doubles crown. Singapore finished the table tennis competition with four golds, one silver and two bronzes.

The women’s team, comprising Zeng Jian, Ser Lin Qian, Loy Ming Ying, Chloe Lai and Tan Zhao Yun, had earlier enjoyed a breakthrough at the 2025 Asian Table Tennis Team Championships in India, returning to the continental podium with a joint-bronze medal. The result marked Singapore’s return to the podium at the Asian team championships after a four-year absence and secured qualification for the 2026 Asian Games.

The recent achievements are complemented by strong performances across STTA’s junior development pathway.

At the 2026 SEA Youth Table Tennis Championships, hosted by Singapore in April, Singapore finished second overall with four gold, six silver and six bronze medals. The U19 boys’ and girls’ teams both successfully defended their team titles, while Loy Ming Ying won the U19 Girls’ Singles title. Sonia Zainudeen and Ng Jing Xuan also captured the U15 Girls’ Doubles title.

These performances underline STTA’s commitment to developing a strong pipeline of athletes who can progress from youth competition to the senior national teams.

The AGM also provided an opportunity for STTA to take stock of the Association’s work over the past term and its plans for the years ahead.

With Ms Poh returning for another term, STTA will look to build on the existing foundations established and continue its efforts to develop the next generation of Singapore paddlers while supporting the national team in its pursuit of international success.

“There is much more that we want to achieve. Our priority will remain on developing our young athletes and strengthening our National Teams. Our goal is to build a strong and sustainable sporting ecosystem, so that our athletes can continue to make their own breakthroughs and reach greater heights. At the community level, we will create more opportunities for Singaporeans from all walks of life, to participate in table tennis games and build a vibrant and inclusive sporting culture.”, added Ms Poh.
