Team Singapore wrapped up their home campaign at the South East Asian (SEA) Youth Table Tennis Championships 2026 in style, clinching two more gold medals on the final day of competition at the ActiveSG Pasir Ris Sports Centre on Sunday.
Rising star Loy Ming Ying delivered a performance to remember on home soil, edging Thailand’s Phatsaraphon Wonglakhon in a gripping seven-game battle, 4–3 (11–13, 11–9, 8–11, 11–8, 9–11, 11–8, 11–7). The hard-fought victory marks her first U19 singles title at the championships, adding to her impressive haul of two U15 singles crowns in 2023 and 2025.
Her victory was all the sweeter, as she and partner Chloe Lai had earlier lost the U19 Girls’ Doubles final to Wonglakhon and Kulapassr Vijitvirayagul, when they fell to a 3-0 straight sets defeat, 9-11, 7-11, 7-11.
In the U15 Girls’ Doubles, the newly-formed pairing of Sonia Zainudeen and Ng Jing Xuan proved their mettle, battling past Thailand’s Panita Vijittham and Unjit Jitnada in a thrilling 3–2 final (6–11, 12–10, 8–11, 11–9, 11–8) to secure gold.
Fresh off her doubles triumph, Ng Jing Xuan looked poised to complete a golden double in the U15 Girls’ Singles. However, she was up against a formidable opponent in Malaysia’s Mohd Dania, who proved too strong on the day, claiming the title with a 4–0 victory (11–3, 11–4, 11–4, 11–4).
In the U19 Boys’ Singles, Singapore’s Ellsworth Le was aiming to repeat his earlier triumph over Indonesia’s Junindra Muhammad, having defeated him in the team event. This time, however, the Indonesian turned the tables, producing a composed performance to exact revenge with a 4–1 victory (11–5, 8–11, 11–6, 12–10, 11–6) and secure Indonesia’s first gold medal of the competition.
Team Singapore concluded the championships with an impressive overall haul of 4 gold, 6 silver, and 6 bronze medals.
