
Singapore’s young paddlers delivered an impressive showing at the ongoing WTT Youth Contender Bangkok 2026, securing both silver and bronze in the U19 Mixed Doubles event.
Siblings Loy Xing Yao and Loy Ming Ying claimed the silver medal after finishing runners-up to Chinese Taipei’s Yu Yu-Cing and Lu Yu En in the final. The Singapore pair started strongly by taking the opening game 11-9, but their opponents fought back to secure a 3-1 victory (9-11, 11-3, 11-8, 11-8).

Fellow Singaporeans Ellsworth Le and Chloe Lai earned a joint-bronze medal following a commendable run to the semi-finals. They were edged out by the Loy siblings in an all-Singapore clash, falling 14-12, 11-4, 11-4.
Le and Lai had earlier stunned the Chinese pair of in which they defeated the Chinese pair of Xiao Baixin and Jiang Yiyi 3-2 (10-12, 11-7, 11-5, 5-11, 11-6) in the quarterfinals.
The competition continues today, with Singapore’s paddlers aiming to add to the medal tally in the U19, U15 and U11 Singles events.
