Singapore paddler Loy Ming Ying produced a series of outstanding performances in Bangkok, Thailand, capturing two silver medals and a bronze medal across consecutive World Table Tennis (WTT) youth events.
At the WTT Youth Contender Bangkok 2026 from 18 to 21 May 2026, Loy partnered her brother, Loy Xing Yao, to secure the silver medal in the U19 Mixed Doubles event. The Singapore siblings impressed with a composed and determined run to the final before eventually finishing runners-up to Chinese Taipei’s Yu Yu-Cing and Lu Yu En, 3-1 (9-11, 11-3, 11-8, 11-8).
Carrying that momentum into the WTT Youth Star Contender Bangkok 2026 from 22 to 24 May 2026, Loy continued her strong form by claiming another silver medal in the U19 Girls’ Doubles event alongside Chloe Lai. The Singapore pair delivered a remarkable campaign, overcoming pairs from Korea Republic and Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively — both through hard-fought 3-2 victories — to book their place in the final.
Despite a spirited performance, Loy and Chloe eventually fell to China’s Yao Ruixuan and Jiang Yiyi, 3-1 (11-9, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6), to finish with an impressive silver medal.
Loy also enjoyed a strong singles run at the WTT Youth Star Contender, finishing joint-third in the U19 Girls’ Singles. She opened her campaign with a gritty 3-2 win over India’s Divyanshi Bhowmick (9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 11-3) in the Round of 16, before defeating Korea Republic’s JEONG Yein 3-1 (11-9, 12-10, 5-11, 13-11) in the quarter-finals.
However, she could not hold on to a 2-0 lead against Chen Chi-Yun of Chinese Taipei in the semifinal, eventually succumbing 3-2 (11-7, 11-6, 9-11, 10-12, 3-11).
Her consistent podium finishes across both events underline Loy’s continued rise on the international youth circuit and reinforce her status as one of Singapore’s most promising young paddlers.
