
Singapore’s junior paddlers ended their San Francisco sojourn by adding 1 Silver and 3 Bronzes to their medal tally on the final day of the WTT Youth Contender San Francisco III on Sunday, 21 September.
The medals came from the U11 Girl’s Singles, where Sie Cai Yin clinched a silver after being defeated in the final by Shreya Srinivasan of the USA. She lost by a score of 3-1 to Srinivasan, going down 6-11, 11-9, 3-11, 10-12.

Teammate Leah Qi secured the bronze after falling to Shrinivasan in the semifinals, with the American winning convincingly in straight sets 11-4, 11-6, 11-4.
Benaiah Seah and Benjamin Lau both earned bronze medals in the U15 Boys’ Singles, while Janelle Chiang added another bronze in the U15 Girls’ Single

Seah lost 3-1 (4-11, 12-10, 5-11, 5-11) to eventual champion, Thitiphat Preechayan of Thailand while Lau was defeated by Chinese Taipei’s Wu Yuan-Kai, also by a score of 3-1 (11-8, 5-11, 8-11, 8-11) in the semifinals.
Chiang was defeated by Wu’s teammate, Chen Chih-Yen, 11-13, 9-11, 6-11, in her semifinal.
This marked Seah’s and Chiang’s second medal of the competition, adding to the silver they claimed earlier in the U15 Mixed Doubles.
Singapore’s junior paddlers finished with 4 Silvers – U15 Mixed Doubles, U13 Boys’ Singles, U13 Girls’ Singles, and U11 Girls’ Singles, along with 6 Bronze- U15 Boys’ Singles (2), U15 Girls’ Singles, U15 Mixed Doubles, U13 Boys’ Singles and U11 Girls’ Singles.
