Singapore’s young guns and rising stars, Ser Lin Qian, 19, and Loy Ming Ying, 15, in their first SEA Games as a doubles pair, clinched an impressive joint bronze in the Women’s Doubles event on Wednesday, 17 December at the Central Westgate Mall in Nonthaburi, Bangkok.

The young pair took on Khetkhuan Tamolwan and Jinnipa Sawatttabut of Thailand in the semifinals, and despite taking the first set 11-5, they could not find a way past their more experienced opponents, losing the next three sets 9-11, 9-11, 10-12 to settle for a third-place finish.
Following their defeat, Ser said, “I wouldn’t say I’m completely satisfied. I admit I wasn’t mentally strong enough. I hope I can learn from this experience and be more resolute and decisive next time.”
Debutant Loy ends her first SEA Games with two medals, having also won a silver in the Women’s Team event.
Ser will now focus on the singles event, as she hopes to continue to do Singapore proud.
