The taste of revenge was even sweeter for Chevelle See as she captured the U13 Girls’ Singles title at the WTT Youth Contender Fremont 2025.
The 13-year-old swept aside home favourite Anya Shanbhag 11-4, 11-8, 11-7 in straight games, avenging her narrow defeat in last week’s WTT Youth Contender San Francisco III final.
On that occasion, Shanbhag edged a tense five-game thriller, but this time the American had no response to See’s commanding performance.
This was See’s second U13 title, adding to her victory in Władysławowo. She also boasts a silver from San Francisco and two joint-3rd place finishes from Havířov and Vientiane.
The U13 Boys’ Singles final proved to be a repeat showdown from San Francisco, with Singapore’s Zane Ong once again up against Wu Yuan-Kai of Chinese Taipei. Ong stormed to a two-game lead, but history repeated itself as Wu staged a stunning fightback to snatch the title 3-2, edging the decider 11-9 after trailing 0-2 (8-11, 5-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-9).
Ong’s teammate, Isaiah Loh, also fell to Wu in the semifinals, settling for a joint-bronze. Loh went down in straight sets to the Taiwanese player, 4-11, 5-11, 8-11.

Benaiah Seah and Chong Zi Sian also did well in the U17 Singles event, clinching 3rd place in the Boys’ Singles and Girls’ Singles respectively, their first medals ever in the U17 category.
Seah, 14, who had picked up silver in the U15 Mixed Doubles and bronze in the U15 Singles in San Francisco, battled hard in his semifinal but was unable to overcome his older Chinese Taipei opponent, Cheng Hong Yu. Despite a strong start, he eventually went down 3-1 (11-6, 4-11, 8-11, 1-11).
Chong, 14, a bronze medallist in U15 Mixed Doubles in San Francisco, was unlucky to lose to Kokomi Ishida of Japan in the semifinal, going down 3-2 in a thriller (3-11, 12-10, 3-11, 11-9, 9-11).
Both Seah and Chong will have the chance to add to their medal haul as they face off in an all-Singapore U15 Mixed Doubles final tomorrow. Seah teams up with Janelle Chiang, while Chong partners Tristen Yee in what promises to be a thrilling showdown.
