Hi Everyone,
2025 has been a fruitful and fulfilling year for the Singapore Table Tennis Association.
Last month, our Men’s and Women’s team enjoyed a successful outing at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. We fielded a young team with an average age of 22 years old, 4 out of 10 players competed in their first SEA Games. The team won 4 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes, flying our national flag high. They displayed a never say die fighting spirit and fought valiantly for every point. I am very proud of the sportsmanship and achievements of this young team.
In 2025, our young talents rose to the occasion at major games and tournaments, showing great promise and exciting progress. The STTA will continue to groom and nurture them, expose them to new challenges and support their quest to fulfill their full potential in their sporting journey.
2026 will be an exciting and busy year for our sport. In February, WTT will hold the Singapore Smash at The Kallang. It is a world class sporting event that will put Singapore on the global stage. Being on home ground as the host nation, I hope our local fans can rally behind our athletes and support them to deliver their best performance.
In April, STTA will host the SEA Youth Table Tennis Championships, providing a platform for young athletes from our region to compete and build friendships. In May, our national athletes will compete at the World Championships in London, pitting themselves against the world’s best and gaining invaluable experiences on the global stage. Later in October, the Asian Games in Nagoya will present another major challenge where our players will strive to do Singapore proud in our continent’s most prestigious sporting event.
It is a packed calendar and I wish our athletes all the best in preparing for these major games and tournaments.
We will continue to strengthen our athletes’ development pathways, nurture emerging talents, strive for top honours on the world stage, and continously work to enhance the standing and professionalism of our sport.
Throughout the year, we will also hold various national level tournaments and community level friendly competitions to encourage more Singaporeans to play table tennis and provide more opportunities for them to stay connected through sports.
Last but not least, I want to thank you, our fellow Singaporeans for your unwavering support. Let us move forward with confidence, ambition and renewed purpose.
On behalf of STTA, I wish you and your loved ones, a Happy and Healthy New Year in 2026.
