Liu Xinqi and Krystal Huang of STTA’s Junior Development Squad (JDS), shared the bronze in the U11 Girls Singles event at the WTT Youth Contender Senec 2025 that concluded on Sunday, 9 November.
Both girls lost in the semifinals of the event, with Liu losing to eventual winner Choi Yeoon of Korea, 9-11, 2-11, 12-10, 9-11, while Huang was defeated by Qatar’s Racha Loghraibi in straight sets, 3-11, 1-11, 9-11.
The two girls had been joined by three other teammates that successfully qualified for the quarterfinals from the group stage – Hayley Lim, Sie Cai Yin and Eu Gin Yi.
Lim and Sie lost their respective matches to Choi and Loghraibi 3-0, while Huang had defeated the home nation’s sole representative Adela Vaskova in a back and forth thriller, eventually prevailing 3-2 (6-11, 12-10, 10-12, 13-11, 11-7). The final quarterfinal tie saw an all Singaporean match up where Liu prevailed over Eu, also in a five-setter, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7, 10-12, 12-10.
The performances of the JDS team at both Lignano and Senec is testament of the constant hard work and dedication put in by both the players and coaches.
