Watch the final showdown for the World’s
Top Players at the 2008 TMS Singapore Open, the final International
Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Pro Tour tournament before
the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Catch the World’s Top 10
Players LIVE in action as they compete for top honours in
this crucial open to maintain and improve their rankings and
seeding for the upcoming Olympics.
Playing at the 2008 TMS Singapore open are National players
such as Li Jiawei, Wang Yuegu, Yang Zi and Gao Ning. International
players include competitors from countries such as China,
Japan and Korea. For the first time, Singapore Table Tennis
Association (STTA) has received a record number of 259 entries
for the 2008 TMS Singapore Open, formerly known as Volkswagen
Singapore Open.
Mr Chan Pong Heng, Chairman of the Organising Committee says,
“The 2008 TMS Singapore Open is a major international
gathering for world ranked table tennis players. This is the
best opportunity to watch potential Beijing Olympics 2008
medallists compete in a highly anticipated showdown of the
best players in the world. We are also confident that our
national team players will give their best in this tournament
to get the best advantage for the 2008 Beijing Olympics”.
Mr Kelven Tan, Singapore Sports Council’s Chief of
Sports Marketing Group added, “The Singapore Sports
Council is delighted to partner the Singapore Table Tennis
Association to host some of the world's best athletes on our
shores. Events of such international stature serve to add
more vibrancy to an already exciting Singapore sports calendar.
I strongly encourage everyone in Singapore to catch the world's
best table tennis stars in action, and cheer for our Team
Singapore in this final pro tournament leading up to the Beijing
Olympics."
There have been recent wins among the national players with
Wang Yuegu’s success at the recent ITTF Brazil Open
and in Chile where Li Jiawei, Yang Zi and Gao Ning who clinched
gold in their respective categories. Come in red to the 2008
